A Prime Right and Left Break that rolls to the breach is overlooked high on the dune by a purpose built judging deck that is perfect for private or group video analysis.
Down near the showers and behind the dune is the brand new WindanSea clubhouse with space, tech and equipment for elite surfing training.
WindanSea and The Clubhouse are expecting the use of its facility to ramp up as world teams warm up their training in the local conditions in 2032
Clubhouse readiness
WindanSea surf club has healthy financials, membership and community connections and ready for the future.
Its Clubhouse management organisation has harnessed 70+ years of continuous surf cultural heritage behind it including running the annual Pa and Ma Bendal Memorial Surf Contest since ’74.
Our vision: A home for Olympic-level training
Confirmed sport or not, our ambition is clear: we want this clubhouse to become a training base for international-level Olympic surf teams in the lead-up to 2032. To build on that legacy long after the closing ceremony. It's a natural fit, the break, the facility, and the club's track record for running serious competitions for over 70 years are critical Olympic criteria.
And there's more than one way we can host, from opening the clubhouse for public viewing events, backing junior development pathways, lending volunteers to a torch relay or legacy programme, or being the local face of Caloundra's surf community our members and community will stand proud as the world's eyes turn to Queensland.
It also means leadership beyond our own break — sharing what we've learned building a purpose-built surf community clubhouse from the ground up with others looking to do the same, including emerging international surf communities.
Whatever opportunities there are, the WindanSea is prepping to get involved.
