Women Supporting Women In Surfing Since 2021

Caloundra Women Surfers (CWS) is a free, community-based group for women who share a passion for surfing in the Caloundra area.

Less a traditional club, more a genuinely welcoming community that's grown from a small local Facebook group in 2021 to more than 1,700 members today.

From those just starting out to women with decades of surfing behind them, CWS is a place to find other women to paddle out with, build confidence, and share a love of the ocean. While Caloundra is home, members surf breaks across the surrounding areas too, following the waves and conditions wherever they’re looking good. And when surfing locally there’s one view that’s hard to beat… catching a wave with the Glass House Mountains rising in the background.

As CWS puts it: "Where else in the world can you surf a wave and see that stunning view?!"

Beyond The Lineup

Surfing is at the heart of CWS, but the connections made in the water often continue on the sand too. Regular meetups and larger seasonal gatherings, often timed around Christmas and Easter, bring the community together for a surf, with themed dress-ups and everyone bringing a plate to share. In August 2026, the first dedicated social night was held, giving members a chance to connect beyond the surf.

An active online chat hub keeps members connected between surfs, sharing surf reports, advice, photos and plenty of banter.

Meetups are regularly photographed by talented local surf photographers, who generously give their time to capture the fun both in and out of the water. Their photos create some amazing memories and give many members a great shot of themselves surfing.

The group also supports the wider Caloundra surf community by connecting members with local surf businesses and services worth knowing about.

All Women Welcome

Whatever age or skill level, there's a place for every woman at CWS. From complete beginners finding their feet to experienced surfers who take it seriously, everyone is welcome.

The group is especially valuable for women new to the Coast or without anyone nearby to surf with. There's no pressure around ability, just support, encouragement and good company in the water.
