Clubhouse
Future

“The spiritual and physical home of surfing in Caloundra and an address that sets the foundation for surfing excellence on the Sunshine Coast.”

Centre For Surfing Excellence

We're working toward the Clubhouse's next chapter, a Centre for Surfing Excellence where surfers, schools and sporting teams from Australia and around the world come to learn, train and grow, at our legendary Ann Street Surf break.

The vision of the Clubhouse, and what this venue could represent, always went beyond the idea of being a hub for the local surf community. It was fuelled by the ambition of becoming the spiritual and physical home of surfing in Caloundra. An address that sets the foundation for surfing excellence on the Sunshine Coast and draws individuals and groups from across Australia.

First Nations Surfing

Surfing on this coast has a much longer history than any clubhouse. Work is underway towards a dedicated First Nations surfing group based at the Clubhouse. It will be a place to connect with Country through the ocean, share culture and give First Nations surfers of all ages a home in the water and out of it.

Dune Restoration Program

The dunes protect Caloundra's beaches, and the breaks along with them. In partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council, the clubhouse aims to help restore and look after dunes across the Caloundra area through planting days, weeding and ongoing care, so the coast stays healthy for the next generation of surfers.

Currimundi Special School

The Clubhouse is working with Currimundi Special School to build a surfing program designed for its students. The goal is simple: every young person should get to feel what it's like to catch a wave. With the right support, coaching and equipment, the clubhouse can open that experience to students who might otherwise miss out.

Clubhouse Improvements

Despite the clubhouse only being opened in 2023, plans are already underway to make it work harder for the community. The aim is for it to become a proper base for surf training and coaching, with the equipment and set-up that let surfers learn and progress efficiently. Inside, improved acoustics will make the space better for meetings, presentations and functions. Outside, a roof is planned over the existing deck so it’s more usable despite the hot summer days.

Trophy Cabinet

Decades of competition have left the club with a proud collection of trophies and memorabilia, including silverware from the Pa & Ma Bendall Memorial Surfing Contest. A dedicated trophy cabinet will give that history a permanent home, celebrate the surfers who earned it and inspire the ones coming through.

Surfing Reserve on Ann Street

The clubhouse is located on Ann Street, one of the best-known breaks on the Sunshine Coast. Work is underway with the Council on a masterplan for the area, including the goal of having it recognised as a surfing reserve. That recognition would protect the break and honour its place in Caloundra's surf history for generations to come.
