Moffat Beach, since 1995
Formed in 1995 out of the '90s longboarding revival, the Caloundra Malibu Club has spent three decades building a genuinely family-friendly surf community, carrying on a longboarding heritage in the area that stretches back to the era of Ma and Pa Bendall.
From grommets to Over 70s, our club brings generations together through a shared love of longboarding. Monthly Sunday club comps run January to November, with a BBQ breakfast and good company as much a part of the day as the competition itself.
It's always been more about a love of surfing and having a good time than pure competition and some members from that very first 1995 meeting are still riding with the club today.
Beyond the Lineup
That community spirit reaches well beyond their own lineup. The club has a long history of getting behind local environmental and community causes, and shares a strong bond with other Sunshine Coast longboard clubs, particularly Alexandra Headland and Noosa. Since 1997, they've gone head-to-head in the Threeway Challenge, which Caloundra hosted for the very first time at Moffat Beach.
And since 2001, the Fun in the Sun Team Challenge has brought together local clubs, businesses and sponsors, families, social surfers and some of Australia’s best longboarders alike, proof that the best surf events are the ones everyone gets to be part of.

New members are welcomed year-round, and every skill level is catered for, from your very first wave to your five-hundredth.
